Thank you to all our members of Post 1153, Sylvan Beach; Legion, SAL and Auxiliary!!

Hopefully you are as proud and happy, as I am being a member of this great organization!  I am humble to be part of this organization and the work we do, sometimes is not easy, but most of the time its “fun”.

Recently, with help from many people, we have completed several projects.

We have replaced our two front bay windows, replaced our two rear sliding glass doors with one French door and window.

I am pleased to report that Bob Johnson has recently installed in our kitchen, a pass through service window with a closing sliding door on our counter top.  Also, a new cabinet has been installed with counter top.

Check out Web Site for pictures.  http://post1153.org

After several weeks of our Fish Fries this new project has shown its worth!!

We have replaced our carpet in the social area and backroom.  After three installations, Mazzulo & Sons Carpet finally got the install correct!!  Smokers please note that smoking is allowed only on tiled area; this is to reduce burn holes and also keeps our backroom cleaner.

 THANKS FOR YOUR COOPERATION!

I am please to announce that the YMCA has accepted our purchase offer.

More details to follow on our purchase!!

Our seniors had their last meeting and luncheon on December 10th.  The luncheon was catered by Splash’s BBQ, with Bob and Sandy Johnson and Elves serving chicken, ham and all the fixings!  GREAT JOB SPLASH’S!!

Assemblyman Dave Townsend was guest at the luncheon and stated that his offices are trying to find a permanent facility for the senior’s use.  Al Jackson, President of Senior’s and Post 1153, expressed his thanks to Assemblyman Townsend, that he is special to our community and has been welcomed with open arms.

Volunteers cooking for the Senior’s these years have been: Willie-T, Nick Hewitt, Donna Muir, Chuck Walters and Bill Richards.  Thank you all for taking the time for our Seniors and Post 1153!!

On Veteran’s Day, I attended services in downtown Holland Patent, as our Highway 365, was dedicated to our fallen Marine L/Cpl. Blaise Oleski.

Our membership quota is 190.  We have 17 members who haven’t renewed their dues.  As of January 31st dues must be paid for 2010 your 2009 card will no longer be valid.

Finally, I would like to thank you all for a job well done and I am looking forward to a great 2010 and wish you all a Happy and Prosperous 2010!!

For the Good of the Legion          Jake
